Back Up Your System

It seems so obvious to back up your system. I hear it and think it all the time. But unfortunately, I didn't listen to the voices in my head. That's the thing with PC's, you know it's gonna fail, you just don't know when. And you better be ready for the when, I wasn't.

I live in Minnesota, and it is storm season. The other day I went to down into my studio to produce some music, and what do ya know, my machine is completely dead.

The good news is, I know what it is: a power supply. The bad news is, I've seen what blowing a power supply can do to a machine. I've seen it fry everything (mother board, ram, HD, and processor).

I've been so bummed I haven't even tried to fix it yet. I know I had my 3rd CD on there completed. I just needed to mix it down. I'm hoping the hard drives are still intact.

So, learn from my lesson, find a way to back up your DAW. Use DVD's, CD's, external hard drives, DAT tapes, backup online, network some machines, or whatever you have to do to ensure you have another copy of that information.
