The most sought after sounds?

digitalredux's picture

Hi,

I'm from a new sample library company called Digital Redux.

We are throwing ideas around the studio as to what content we should develop for our next releases, and we thought that the best place to start would be to ask fellow producers what they are in need of, or can't get enough of, or want to see more of....

We have a bunch of release out now (Hip Hop Hotness, D&B 4 The Headz, Properly Chilled, Hacienda House & ElectroTech).  If you'd like to check them out then download the free demo content - http://digital-redux.com/downloads.html

Anyone have any suggestions?

Cheers!

Check this link out!  I used him on an albums worth of material and it's fabulous.

Drums are hard to record.. there's a lot involved sonically as well as getting the right player.

Highly recommend him..

O'Hagan Flying V Guitar

Rick Goldthorpe's picture

I have an O'hagan Flying V guitar that I purchased new in the 80's from a local music store. This guitar
is neatly mint, wondering if you have any idea of it's value?

I've never seen another one like it - silverburst finish - has a Kahler type tremolo system that I don't believe
is original.

Any info you can supply on this O'Hagan guitar would be appreciated. Thanks much.

Boss BR600 - Acoustic & Vocals

Frank's picture

Hi folks.  I've been looking for a digital multitrack solution to record a CD. I've been scouring the forums and reviews of the Boss products (as well as others), but it seems most of the comments, questions, and marketing videos are all about the drum sounds, electric guitar effects, looping, etc. as opposed to what I'm looking for, which is how good is the unit for recording nice clean high quality acoustic guitar with a professional sound.  Also intrested in recording quality of vocals, again, clean, not over processed.  My goal is to produce a solo acoustic CD on my own, but I'm no recording engineer, just a musician, singer, songwriter.  The main features I'm looking for are sound quality and ease of use (short learning curve).

I called Sweetwater and described my goals and the guy I talked with was very helpful and seemed to know what he was talking about.  He recommended the Boss BR-1600CD.  I'd imagine it would do the trick from all the reviews I've read, but it seems a bit overkill for what I want to do.  The BR600 appears to have all the features I'd need.  The BR1600 uses uncompressed audio format , which I've learned is important, but from what I've been able to gather the BR600 is not uncompressed audio.  The 1600 also has it's own phantom power for the moderatly high end mics I'll be getting.  The 600 would require me to get a preamp or phantom power unit.  I don't know if this would hurt or help the sound on the 600.

So, has anybody used the BR600 to put out a professional quality CD or is it mostly a scratch pad of sorts to get ideas down and record rehearsals?

I'd appreciate any comments and or tips to steer me down the right path.

Thanks,Frank

And you thought your drummer was good?

I found this cool video online. Doesn't have much to do with home studio recording. But I thought some of my fellow musicians could appreciate the talent this guy has. Wow. Some mad skills. Check out the video here: http://www.vidzest.com/media/196/Thea_Most_Amazing_Drum_Solo_Ever_to_Exi...

Collecting Cassettes

Todd Fugere's picture

I've been noticing recently that cassette tapes, still sealed in their original packaging are very collectible. People are paying good money for these. Some items are going for over a hundred bucks. Wow. Wish I had saved some of mine instead of taping albums on them. I have tons of cassettes, but they all have been used and aren't in their original shrinkwrap. But who knows, maybe these will be worth some money in the future. Gotta love ebay!

BR 600

I was wondering if anyone has had a problem with volume control after you bounce a series of track? For example- I laid down my drum tracks on tracks 1-7 and then set the volume levels, then bounced. When I recorded the next set of tracks and adjusted the volume, the volume from the drum track adjusted. I thought after a track was bounced it was pretty much set. Is there something I am missing? What ever help anyone can give will be greatly appreciate. Thanks!!!!!!

I have been researching the 600 and it looked perfect for my needs. I opened the pdf. owners manual and found that it is not compatable w/ vista. I could not find a patch for this on thair website. Is my info. correct and or has anyone  dealt with this? I have not heard back from roland about my question.
